Doomfist, leader of antagonistic band of bad dudes Talon, is now in Overwatch proper, playable in the main game for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
The Count of Monte Fisto has been in Overwatch’s public test region (PTR) since July 6, where it has transpired that just about everything Doomfist does, he does with his fists. He has multiple melee attacks, and his primary weapon fires little bullets out of his meaty knuckles.
Doomfist drops into a meta that’s in an interesting place, with a dive composition already well established. Doomfist seems to fit into that concept, but he’s also a big burst damage character, adept at chaosing brutal and violent chaos in an established line-up. His passive ability generates personal shields as he deals damage to enemies, meaning if he gets into the enemy formation and starts dishing it out, he could be surprisingly difficult to take down.
Will this led to a new meta? It’s too early to say, but as the Overwatch League approaches there’s no doubt that players will be looking to quickly ascertain how to get the most utility out of the big bad of the Overwatch universe.
