Crash Bandicoot beats Splatoon 2 to No.1

Only a handful of copies prevented Splatoon 2 from debuting at the top of the UK charts this week.

Renewed stock for Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy allowed Activision’s title to be back at No.1 this week, with sales increasing 59 per cent. With three weeks at the top of the UK charts, the N. Sane Trilogy matches The Last of Us: Remastered with the most weeks at No.1 for a PS4 exclusive.

Nintendo’s Splatoon 2 came a close second, debuting at No.2, and outperforming 2015’s Splatoon. The sequel sold 59 per cent more copies on Week One than its predecessor and has become the third biggest Switch launch, behind Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Both these titles were actually back in the Top Ten this week, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe grabbing No.4 with a 60 per cent boost in sales, and Breath of the Wild landing No.6 with sales up 20 per cent.

Meanwhile, last week’s No.1, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age fell to No.7, with sales decreasing 85 per cent.

Here’s the UK Top 10 for the week ending July 22nd (data courtesy of GfK/Ukie):
