This War of Mine board game adaptation set for 2016

Yet another video game is to make a tabletop debut.

Following in the footsteps of BioShock, XCOM, The Banner Saga, Portal, The Witcher, Street Fighter, Tetris, Minecraft, Assassin’s Creed, Halo and more, PC survival success This War of Mine will be adapted into a board game next year.

According to developer 11 Bit Studios, the tabletop spin-off will follow the theme of its virtual cousin, putting players in control of civilians struggling to survive in a war-torn city.

Up to six players will work together to make tough choices and find a way through the brutal environment, although single-player rules will also be included.

The board game is billed as being simple enough to play without needing to read the instructions first.

Like adaptations such as XCOM, a companion app will supposedly enhance the tabletop title, offering a soundtrack, story updates, scenarios, radio plays and extra puzzles, plus other unlockable content.

This War of Mine came to PC last year, with an expanded PS4 and Xbox One version set for launch in late January.
