UK CHARTS: Wii dominates single format listings

The popularity of Nintendo’s Wii shows no signs of abating in the UK with the machine laying claim to 16 of the top 30 selling individual format games in ChartTrack’s latest unit sales listings.

The Wii also claimed 15 of the top 30 selling titles by value.

Topping the unit sales listing was Wii Play, which ranked above the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of EA’s Burnout Paradise, which claimed second and third spots respectively.

Sega’s Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games was the fourth best selling game by units, with Nintendo’s Donkey Kong: Jet Race in eighth and 2K Play’s Carnival: Funfair Games in tenth.

Other Wii titles in the unit listings included Super Mario Galaxy (11th), Sonic and the Secret Rings (14th), Ghost Squad (15th), Link’s Crossbow Training (16th), Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree (17th), Mario Strikers Charged Football (19th), Mario Party 8 (22nd), Zack & Wiki (28th), Super Paper Mario (29th), Lego Star Wars (30th), Ratatouille (32nd) and WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008 (36th).

When it came to individual format sales by value, EA’s two versions of Burnout topped the listings, followed by Sega’s Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games in third, Donkey Kong: Jet Race in fifth and Super Mario Galaxy in eighth.

The Wii also monopolised places 17 through 23 in this list, as well as claiming nine of the top 20 best selling games by value.
