A new award ceremony for the games industry is launching, aiming to recognise and celebrate the work of individuals in the games industry.
The initiative, Game Dev Heroes, was announced today and is currently calling on industry professionals to shine a spotlight on those working tirelessly behind the scenes in the hope of highlighting unsung heroes nad hidden visionaries in the industry. Details for nominations will appear soon, and the deadline for submissions is Tuesday 19th June, with a range of categories you can see on Game Dev Heroes‘ official website.
The awards are already garnering support with Aardvark Swift, GamesJobsDirect, Analog and Launchpad announced as first sponsors.
The judging panel was also soon be announced, comprised of several professionals across HR and senior management, in the hope of highlighting some phenomenal talent.
Simon Hope, the director & head recruiter at headline sponsor Aardvark Swift, said in a press release: "We’re delighted to be part of such a brilliant initiative. Games, projects and studios can only be as strong and successful as their dev team are, and we should recognise and celebrate those who’re making a personal contribution. We speak to so many talented people every single day who’re personally doing phenomenal things – those individuals deserve to be celebrated."
The winners will be honoured at an event on Tuesday 10th July, as part of a Game Dev Heroes networking event, held in Brighton during the Develop Conference, and will be free to attend, although ticketed.
