Autodesk are the first sponsor for North England based games industry group

Autodesk to support Game Republic for 2016-2017

Game Republic, the Yorkshire and Northern England Games Network, announced last week that software company AutoDesk, Inc will be the Republic’s first ever official supporter.

Autodesk will be officially supporting Game Republic for 2016-2017. This affiliation with Autodesk marks the first of its kind for Game Republic since the company started in 2003. Game Republic has grown over the years though, bringing together developers in the North of England and becoming the largest games network in the region, now counting eight universities, 60 companies and hundreds of individuals as members.

Jamie Sefton, the managing director of Game Republic, said in an emailed statement that the support from autowas was "a step change in what we can deliver in the coming year for our Game Republic and GaMaYo members."

"It means we can bring an even more ambitious event programme together to help and get more business for our members."

This support will start nearly immediately with Autodesk stepping in to support GR events this month, while a special Autodesk section of the Game Republic website will offer free help on advice on their software suite for Game Republic members, including products like Maya and 3Ds Max.

It’ll probably also enable a boost to Game Republic events for 2017, although this program hasn’t yet been finalised, but Game Republic have mentioned people can expect the same mixture of social and business events as before.
