Ubisoft has stated that recent release Splinter Cell: Conviction will receive new DLC on a weekly basis – and best of all, it’s going to be free.
CVG reports that the first download will be the MP7A1 Machine Pistol, which will be available on day one come the game’s European release tomorrow, with new DLC arriving every Thursday.
Future DLC will include new weapons, skins and multiplayer maps.
The obvious question to ask is whether the DLC is content that has been produced post-release or whether in fact gamers are simply being granted staggered access to content already on the disc.
The latter approach has recently got 2K Games into hot water after it was discovered that premium DLC for BioShock 2 was already on the disc. That news was all the harder for gamers to swallow considering 2K was charging for the DLC.
MCV has contacted Ubisoft for clarification.
