GC LEIPZIG: PS2 Rock Band coming to Europe

Electronic Arts announced further plans for its Harmonix-developed rhythm game Rock Band at its conference in Leipzig today – including the release of a PS2 version of the game.

The publisher also confirmed that the titles would be released in the first quarter of 2008 in Europe – as previously rumoured.

The PS2 version will be released alongside the previously announced PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

The game will still hit US shelves before Christmas, but will not be coming out on the PS2 in the territory, according to Wired.

The European continent’s rich and diverse musical pedigree transcends culture and language, which is why we are extremely pleased to announce Rock Band in Europe for early 2008,” stated EVP of MTV Program Enterprises Jeff Yapp.

It was imperative that we have significant on-disc and downloadable localized music content for multiple European territories on the PlayStation 2 system, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system in order for Europeans to truly get the full Rock Band experience and interact with the music they love.”
