Zappar has launched a suite of development tools that are dedicated to “snackable” augmented and virtual reality experiences.
ZapWorks was launched at this week’s Augmented World Expo and is based on the company’s AR tools that have been used as part of marketing campaigns for Angry Birds dev Rovio and Warner Bros, as well as Coca-Cola and Pez.
After five years of the development, the tech are now available to all devs building short-form content for augmented and virtual reality. It supports 3D models, JavaScript, and offers single-click previewing and publishing.
“Worldwide, we’ve made thousands of bite-sized AR experiences for hundreds of brands over the past five years, using our proprietary authoring tools to help partners engage with their audience on mobile and sell more product,” said CEO Caspar Thykier.
“Instead of keeping the tools to ourselves, and in line with our mission to truly democratise AR for the first time, we’re setting the full suite loose through ZapWorks – re-imagining what’s possible on the mobile canvas as we begin to not only look at our phone screens, but see through them.
“We’re delighted to announce that with ZapWorks, those experiences can now extend beyond AR to creating short form VR content as well. This is a game-changer.”
ZapWorks is available in multiple tiers: $45 per month for the basic seat, which focuses on AR, and $135 per month for the Pro seat, which features access to the entire suite plus ZapWorks Studio.
