Former employees of EA DICE have opened their own studio and is already seeking funds for its first title.
Fugitive Games was co-founded by four experienced developers who, in addition to DICE, have worked at Capcom and SCEA. The team’s credits include Battlefield, Medal of Honor, Lost Planet, Shadows of the Damned and Mag.
Ben Jones, former lead designer for Battlefield Premium, has taken on the role of development director, while fellow DICE vet Marc Janas becomes project architect.
The pair are joined by art director Alden Filion, who served in the same role for Earth Defense Force and Eat Lead, and creative director Roy Orr, who Suda51’s studio Grasshopper Manufacture.
The quartet has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its first title, Into The Stars: an open-world space sim for PC and Mac that will be built in Unreal Engine 4.
The game puts you in the role of the captain of the last ship to leave a doomed planet. The team says it will incorporate elements familiar to fans of FTL and Out There, with the survival mentality of classic title The Oregon Trail.
Into The Stars will even feature a soundtrack by Mass Effect composer Jack Wall.
