Three new games announced under the Discovery brand, two for iPhone, another for home and PC systems

Discovery Channel joins the game

The Discovery Channel’s owning company has licensed three new games for the iPhone, PC and home consoles.

The self-explanatorily titled Discovery Channel Trivia Video Game is being developed by UK studio Slitherine. A press release states the game will be released “for all next generation consoles and PCs”, suggesting that the game will be available for PS3 and Xbox 360. Slitherine has recently focused development on PC and Wii titles.

The company’s two other games are based on a couple of popular Discovery Channel TV shows; Deadliest Catch and Cash Cab.

Both iPhone titles, Cash Cab will be developed by a Capcom division, while Deadliest Catch is being built by Hands-On Mobile. The games are said to be released between June this year and by the end of 2010.

“Discovery’s promise is to satisfy viewers’ natural curiosity about the world around them and these three games expand the ways in which consumers of various ages can immerse themselves further into the shows they love," said Elizabeth Bakacs, vice president, Discovery Commerce Licensing.
