Developer Ruffian Games and publisher Paradox Interactive have parted ways, leaving the fate of co-op title Hollowpoint foggy.
The Crackdown 2 studio announced its collaboration with the Crusader Kings outlet back in 2014, when Hollowpoint was unveiled at Sony’s 2014 Gamescom conference, as part of a deal to bring all of Paradox’s games to PS4 ahead of Xbox One.
The game largely vanished until E3 2015, when a second trailer was released for the Shadow Complex-a-like. However, the companies parted ways shortly after.
“We ceased working with Paradox on Hollowpoint in Summer 2015 and we wish them well for the future,” Ruffian said in a statement. (Thanks, Eurogamer.)
“Since then we’ve continued to work on multiple projects and we released Fragmental on Steam Early Access just last week. We are looking forward to supporting Fragmental with regular feature and content updates towards a launch version later this year.”
Paradox issued its own comment on the situation, revealing that the future of Hollowpoint is now under consideration.
“After recent ongoing discussions between the two companies, it became apparent to both parties that the creative vision for the project was diverging and so the decision was ultimately taken to cease our co-operation in order to serve the long-term interests of the game,” it said (via Gamewatcher).
“We would like to thank Ruffian Games for all their hard work and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours.
"Paradox will be re-evaluating the creative direction of Hollowpoint internally before making any final decisions.”
