Nvidia has set the European launch of its Shield Tablet gaming device for this year’s Gamescom.
The event in Cologne will run from August 14th to 17th, with the Shield Tablet set for release on the first day of the show.
The Tablet, which allows players to play Android titles and games streamed across from a PC, was originally announced last month, alongside a UK price – 229.
Nvidia senior product manager Chris Daniel told MCV that although the Shield Tablet is coming to the UK, the original Shield Portable is yet to have a release date detailed.
We’re not announcing the Portable coming to the UK or worldwide at this time, but we expect the Shield family of products to be worldwide eventually,” he said.
The Shield Tablet and its Shield Wireless Controller have been nominated for the Best Hardware and Peripherals category at the 2014 Gamescom Awards.
At Nvidia’s Gamescom booth attendees will be able to try out the Tablet by playing titles specifically optimised for the device’s Nvidia Tegra K1 processor.
The stand will also feature PC titles, including Ubisoft’s racing game The Crew and 2K Games’ first-person shooter Evolve, which will be available to play on 20 GeForce GTX computers hooked up to Nvidia G-Sync monitors.
