Respawn returns for second game dev event in Cologne

The Respawn game developer conference has announced the lineup for its second installment.

The two-day event, which will run from August 12th to 13th at DOCK.ONE in Cologne, will include presentations, workshops and discussions, with a particular focus given to the impact of the indie gaming culture on the general development of modern computer and video games.

Respawn will also debut its ‘Pitch & Match’ format, which is designed to help games companies arrange meetings with potential business partners.

Participants in this year’s Pitch & Match will include game firms Nintendo, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Square Enix Collective Bigpoint, Bright Future, kunst-stoff, Mimimi Productions, Piranha Bytes and Unity3D.

Speakers at this year’s event will include Odile Limpach of Ubisoft Blue Byte, Fasih Sayin of Crytek, Jon Hare of Tower Studios and Oscar Clark of Unity, among others.

For the second ‘Respawn – Gathering of Game Developers’, we have again successfully enlisted international heavyweights,” said Stephan Reichart, Aruba Events managing director and organiser of Respawn.

Our conference comprises two information-packed days which will deliver valuable know-how that game developers can apply in their daily practice, and present an ideal opportunity for pre-Gamescom networking. We are also very pleased with the overwhelming response to the new ‘Pitch & Match’ format.”

This year’s Respawn is also the first held in partnership with GDC Europe, with the collaboration offering Respawn ticket holders admittance to the GDC expo and a 10 per cent discount on GDC Europe all-access passes.

Respawn student tickets will be available for €79. Regular prices are €159 for a basic ticket and €189 for a ticket with an integrated trade visitor pass for Gamescom.
