Plus Women in Games and Ukie are both supporting this year’s event
The MCV Women in Games Awards returns for a 5th year running tomorrow. This year we’re very happy to have Ukie’s Dr Jo Twist OBE returning to host the event again. She did an incredible job last year, making the event both powerful and relatable. Thanks again to Ukie for supporting this year’s event as well.
In addition, we’re delighted that Facebook’s top executive in Europe, Nicola Mendelsohn, the company’s EMEA VP, will also be joining us to share her passion both for games and for women working in the industry. The Telegraph described Mendelsohn as”the most powerful woman in the British tech industry” and she has been a huge advocate for work-life balance and flexible working for women in work.
We’re also happy to once again be working on the event with Women in Games this year. With Gemma Johnson-Brown, Chief People & Business Development Officer at Dovetail and Ambassador Director for Women in Games joined our judging panel.
Women in Games CEO, Marie-Claire Isaaman, told MCV:
“Women in Games is delighted to partner with the MCV Women in Games Awards. We recognise the commitment MCV have made to delivering this important and celebratory event, which highlights the stellar work of women in the game industries, in all areas and at every level. Our vision at Women in Games is a games industry, culture and community free of gender discrimination, where equality of opportunity, treatment and conditions empowers all women from all backgrounds, from all ethnicities, of all orientations to achieve their full potential. And whilst there is still work to be done, the growing interest and the number of nominations for these awards indicates progress is being made, definitely something worth celebrating…”
Following on from last year’s brilliantly-received event, we’re once again working in partnership with Facebook on the awards, with the company hosting us once again at their London office.
You can now head to the MCV Women in Games Awards website for the 2019 shortlist and further details on the event. We look forward to seeing all of the shortlisted finalists and their guests at the event tomorrow.
