Rogue disband Overwatch team after being turned away from OWL

Rogue, one of the best known and highest achieving Overwatch teams outside of Korea, has announced that it is releasing its roster after the team were unable to secure a spot in Blizzard’s forthcoming Overwatch League (OWL). 

Rogue, a team of french players based out of Las Vegas, were regular faces on the international scene and had even competed in OGN APEX tournaments that took place in Korea and became a showcase for the best of the best in competitive Overwatch. Their last competition was the NA Overwatch Contenders, which they crashed out of in fifth place after falling out of the group stage. 

Rogue’s plight highlights the continued struggles of the Overwatch competitive scene. The team has come first in six different competitions this year, and were unable to see a viable way to continue competing without the OWL. An ESPN report claims that Rogue tried unsuccessfully to sell their Overwatch roster too. While we’re not seeing the entire story here, the fact is that probably the best team in North America is being released into free agency. 

The timing is unfortunate, too. The signing period for the OWL ends on October 30, giving the displaced players less than a month to find a new organisation. The same ESPN report has claimed that Benjamin ‘uNKOE’ Chevasson and Terence ‘SoOn’ Terlier will be signing with the Immortals backed Los Angeles OWL team, although this hasn’t been officially detailed yet. That leaves Dylan ‘aKm’ Bignet, Michael ‘winz’ Bignet, Nicolas ‘NiCO’ Moret and Jean-Louis ‘KnOxXx’ Boyer in the cold, although
