SYBO Games has hired Amy Kalson as a senior game developer for the company.
Kalson, who has previously worked at Electronic Arts and Maxis, brings over a decade of development experience with her, including work on The Sims and the Bejeweled series by EA owned PopCap Studios. She has also worked at Disney Interactive as a creative director. At SYBO, Kalson will be responsible for new projects and will be using her experience in AI to focus efforts on player behaviour and other analytics.
“The big question for me is how people create emotional connections, the use of AI experiences in developing games – even if we’re not talking creating self-sustained characters – will reveal lots of secrets in how we fall in love as a player," said Kalson in a statement. "Working at SYBO I will get my insights into one of the most devoted and largest fan groups in mobile gaming, and I am really excited to develop my expertise on both existing and new games here.”
"Amy Kalson is such a creative talent, possessing an impressive track record of success and keen knowledge of the growing AI domain that will contribute towards taking our projects even further in the critical areas of character relationships and player interactivity," added SYBO CEO Mathias Gredal Norvig.
The move follows another big hire for the Danish game designer as former head of studio at King, Daniel Persson, joined in June, and Elizabeth Sampat from Popcap in January 2017. SYBO are currently working on new titles and supporting existing mobile title, Subway Surfers with developer Kiloo.
