Departing head of studio Hannes Seifert leaves Square Enix for role closer to home in Austria

IO-Interactive name Hakan Abrak as new head of studio

Io-interactive announced today that Hakan Abrak will be taking over the top job as the company’s new studio head.

Hannes Seifert has left the role after 7 years at IOI, as Seifert has decided to leave Square Enix to take a role closer to his Austrian home, leaving the role vacant. Abrak has stepped up from his previous role of studio production director. In a statement, Abrak said: “I am truly proud to take on the role of Studio Head at Io-Interactive – this is a studio I am fiercely passionate about. We have established a strong direction for Hitman and as a studio we will continue to innovate and push into the digital gaming space as we strive to build unique experiences in gaming.”

Abrak has been with IOI for over 10 years, and was the person credited with spearheading Hitman’s (2016) episodic launch. He’s described as a "proven and experienced leader and passionate gamer."
