Eric Flannum joins Amazon Game Studios to work on new PC title

Amazon hires Guild Wars 2 lead designer

The lead designer of Guild Wars 2 is the latest addition to Amazon’s games development arm.

Amazon Game Studios has hired Eric Flannum, who leaves ArenaNet after 10 years at the MMO firm. He will take up the role of creative director, according to GamaSutra.

Flannum will reportedly be working on a new PC title that will be a “competitive, melee-oriented” third-person action game. The studio has previously recruited for an “ambitious” new PC game – presumably the project Flannum has now been assigned to.

The hire follows some significant departures from Amazon Games Studios, when Splinter Cell dev Clint Hocking announced he was leaving the firm, followed shortly by two more designers.
