Former Atari and Krome Studios vet Clara Reeves joins as president

Crossy Road developer Hipster Whale moves into publishing

Hipster Whale, the Australian studio behind mobile hit Crossy Road, is to work with other developers to publish their games.

The outlet described moving into publishing its “natural next step”.

"We’re often approached by other developers asking for help with their titles, and we haven’t had the bandwidth to act,” explained director Andy Sum. “Now, with our publishing initiative, we have a platform for showcasing some truly great games."

The studio added that it would be particularly seeking projects which “have the potential to put a twist on the conventional approaches to the market”.

To help lead the company along its new path, Clara Reeves has been appointed as president, having formerly served in business development roles at Atari and fellow Aussie developer Krome Studios, as well as investment manager for games, digital content and animation at Film Victoria.

"Hipster Whale will continue to work on internal IP and with our amazing partners like Bandai Namco and Disney,” Reeves confirmed.

“We’ll now also now be looking to partner with great developers, helping them bring their creations to the widest audiences and find their own successes.

"Across the whole business we’ll be working hard on creating and curating the very best game experiences, always looking for new ways to surprise and delight our players."
