Mobile outlet Gameloft has shut down yet another studio as part of its on-going ‘cost reduction programme’.
Following the closure of its Seattle, New Zealand and New York offices – to name but three of the seven eliminated over the last year, alongside the loss of more than 850 jobs – this time it’s the turn of Gameloft’s presence in Valencia, Spain to suffer.
According to ‘a source close to the matter’ speaking to Gamasutra, the shutdown means that up to 18 developers have been laid off – this number itself was the reduced outcome of job cuts at the studio in December.
The company previously said of the continuing closures and job losses that it “has been actively managing its production organisation and refocusing on its most efficient and experienced creation centres in order to adapt to rapidly changing market conditions and increase revenues more profitably".
