Budding developers encouraged to alter dinosaur survival game with mods, maps and total conversions

Studio Wildcard launches $60,000 search for best Ark modders

Ark: Survival Evolved developer Studio Wildcard is on the hunt for the most promising modders in the world – and it’s putting its money where its mouth is.

The studio has opened submissions for its Ark Worldwide Mod Contest, allowing any creator to submit their own take on the popular dinosaur survival game from now until March 15th.

A grand sum of $63,000 is up for grabs to the best modders out there, with submissions split into three categories: maps, mods and total conversions.

The outright winner of each category will claim $10,000, with second place taking $5,000 and third swiping $3,000. Fourth and fifth-placed runners-up will receive $2,000 and $1,000, respectively. Winners will be announced on April 15th.

Judging will be split between the Ark community and Studio Wildcard’s development team, with the latter accounting for 60 per cent of the overall score.

The Ark team will grade efforts from one to 100 on three core facets: originality and creativity, overall graphical or functional quality and polish, and entertainment value – in layman’s terms, how fun it is to play.
