About

HAMILTON is the story of America then, told by America now.  Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, HAMILTON has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre--a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education.

With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, HAMILTON is based on Ron Chernow's acclaimed biography. It has won Tony®, Grammy®, and Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and an unprecedented special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors.

  • A Different Spin On History

by Cookie on 1/7/25Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 4 out of 5

The actors were great. The set changes were incorporated into the scheme of the play seamlessly. The only problem I had was that I had a hard time catching all the words that were being said. I understand that this is a modern take on certain events, but I still was missing out on some of the dialogue.

  • Exceeded Expectations!

Hamilton was awesome! The acting, music, scenery, etc. was top notch. I have zero complaints. I loved all the actors/actresses, and the music was very nice. The venue, Tanger Center in Greensboro, had the perfect setup with an awesome view. It also helped that the hotel, Marriot, was less than a five-minute walk. I will attend more events there. Once again, Hamilton was AWESOME!!!

  • Brilliance on a cold day

by Frozen south on 1/7/25Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 4 out of 5

Hamilton is a brilliantly done show, one with flair and humor. The lead character, Hamilton, was not as strong as the major supporting parts - George III, Geo. Washington, Tho. Jefferson, and Aaron Burr. Not clear if it was intended or if it was the actor. My only complaint is the sound could have been better. Otherwise, the Tanger Center is a very intelligently designed space. However, there is no coat check or cloak room. It was a very cold blustery day. When I was told no cloak room by the customer svc rep, I joked "I guess they thought we were in the South."They also let people bring drinks and snacks into the theatre. I've never seen this before. And there are drink cups attached to the seats like at a stadium. Another first. Oh well, Hamilton is still a brilliant piece, and I'm very glad I got to finally see it.

  • Excellent Venue and Show.

by Dara on 1/7/25Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 5 out of 5

It was our first visit to the Tanger venue as we live three-hours away, and it was worth the time, travel and money. The venue is beautiful, the sound well-balanced and the show - simply incredible. We’ve wanted to see Hamilton for a few years and when it came “close” to us, decided to go. Everyone and all the awards speak for the shows quality and I will add that we would go see it at Tanger again, tomorrow. Well done all!

  • Great performance, tough venue

The show was awesome! The sound was glitchy on a few mics and the theater was so cold, I kept my coat on and was still shivering….distracting. Hoping it will be better the next visit. Definitely grateful that the theater exists and brings such stunning art to us!!!!
