Legendary New York-bred singer-songwriter Billy Joel has toured only sporadically in recent years, but fans have plenty of opportunities to score tickets to see him in concert going forward -- if they're willing to head out to New York's Madison Square Garden. Joel signed an open-ended deal with MSG that will have him playing a concert at the venue once per month for as long as there's demand. And demand has never been a problem for Joel at he historic New York venue; he played his first show there in 1978, and had logged 46 concerts at the arena by 2013.
New York isn't alone in its love for the singer. Joel has long been established as one of the top-grossing touring artists in the U.S., and has sold more than 150 million records over the course his four-decade career. After recording a long string of hits including "Piano Man," "New York State of Mind," "Just the Way You Are," "You May Be Right," "Pressure," "Uptown Girl," "We Didn't Start the Fire," and "The River of Dreams," Joel decided that he was done writing pop and rock songs. It's a decision he's stuck with; it's been more than 20 years since he's recorded a new pop or rock album. He's composed new classical material instead, while continuing to play songs from his catalog in concert.
After 22 years, since Billy Joel & Elton John performed at Nassau Coliseum (“Face to Face”), We finally could come back again to NY for this spectacular New Year’s Eve with Billy Joel. This is one of our unforgettable times in life. Of course, we loved Jason Bonham and band!
He never disappoints. He was amazing! His encode went on for an hour. He didn't finish playing until 1:30 am! Always amazes me to see him. Such an incredible piano player and performer. What a way to bring in the New Year!
Thev show started of with Jason Bonham which is yhe only way i could hear songs from Led Zeppelin...my favorite band, Bily Joel came on and just blew me away with all of his great songs that i grew up on. And he did a Zeppelin song with Jason Bonham! A great time was had!
Music was great, sometimes the sound was a bit overdone and the lighting was annoying especially the lowlevel ones. Needed full screens on easc side. I thought for New Years everyone should of had bracelets and there should of been a ton of ballons and confetti - a little confetti and a countdown that we couldnt see was poor especially if you consider the price of parking and tickets - it wasnt even closr for a bang for your buck - still loved the pianoman!
Billy Joel was awesome & what a treat it was to to see Bonhams Zepplin Band - Great way to rock in the New Years!
Billy did every song you could think of and his voice and piano playing were fantastic. His band was great and they were on fire for the whole night. The warm up band was Jason Bonham and they did a complete set of Led Zeppelin. I haven't seen Billy Joel since the 90's and he was fabulous to see. The show was very special since it was New Year's Eve on Long Island. They coordinated the Ball Drop into the show and it was so much fun. He played for another hour after the ball dropped which was great! I would highly recommend going to see him but the fact it was NYE and on Long Island made it a special show! The new UBS Arena is great. I was in 5th row isle and my sister and brother in law were in 10th row isle behind us. Great floor seats. Completely sold out up to the rafters. The best NYE I have had in a long time and it would be great if he made this an annual event!
Bringing in the New Year at the UBS Arena and hearing Billy Joel perform was a thrilling experience for me. The pre-show was also excellent. Overall Billy Joel knows how to put on a good show and has many talented singers and musicians working in harmony with him to achieve a great concert experience.
My 16 year old daughter and I enjoyed this as her first big concert together. Billy Joel always puts on a great show. I've seen him 5 times in concert over the years. The Led Zepplin warm up band was great too! We had a Blast! Also loved the pre concert activities at Belmont Park.
The show was a fantastic way to spend New Year's Eve. I went last year as well. Great to do the countdown with Billy and his talented band members. Billy's voice is terrific. He is hitting all those high notes and the songs sounded incredible. Jason Bonham and his tribute band for his father were really good. I got chills hearing "Stairway to Heaven. "They're was no way this show could have been better unless Billy kept singing. I think he was in for over 2 hours.
Billy Joel never disappoints! We’ve been trying to get back to see him since 2019, and finally made it! Hoping that he continues to play New Year’s Eve at UBS as I would like to make it a tradition. If he’s there, I’m there!
