Nvidia and software company The Game Creators have teamed up for a competition open to would-be game designers.

Nvidia backs game design competition

Split into two categories – one for TGC’s shooter suite FPS Creator the other for language DarkBASIC Professional – and will be judged on a mix of criteria, including graphics, gameplay and sound.

Professional PC rigs are up for grabs as the prizes and Nvidia plans to host the best entries on its website.

Darryl Still, director of content management for Nvidia in EMEA, said: "It’s not just big studios who can produce great games and amazing visual effects – any gaming enthusiast can turn their ideas into playable reality.”

The Game Creators’ director of development, Rick Vanner, added: “We’re very excited by this co-marketing deal with Nvidia – by teaming up with the world’s best video card manufacturer we’re able to reach many more creative individuals and as a result we expect to have hundreds of entries."
