Dorna have released new information on the MotoGP eSport Championship, ahead of it kicking off today with the Jerez GP in Spain.
From the 27 July to 6 August, thousands of fans that have pre-registered for the competition will play at home and try to get the best time haring around the Jerez GP using Marc Marquez’s Honda, tweaked to handle exactly like the real thing.
This is the first of six online time trials during the championship, with the top 16 racers going on to a live final event at the Valencia GP.
Below, we have an exclusive trailer of the first challenge in Marquez.
Afterwards, the season will continue on to Spielberg in Austria, which runs from 10 to 20 of August, followed by Silverstone in Great Britain on 24 August to 3 September and then 7 to 17 September will take place in Misano, Italy.
The next event will take place from 21 September to 1 October, with players taking the role of Valentino Rossi and plowing around the track in his Yamaha in Aragon in Spain, a warm up for the final event from the 12 to 22 of October, at Philip Island in Australia.
Qualifying for the live event is tough. The first and second ranked players of the first two challenges will take part in the finals, as will the three fastest racers in the final four challenges. This means it’s one and done for qualifiers, and if you’re the fourth fastest in every single qualifier, you still won’t get a shot at the live event. This takes part in Valencia, Spain from the 10 to 12 of November. The event will be broadcast live by Dorna Sports’ TV partners.
There’s no cash up for grabs, but the winner can have a car: BMW M240i. Second place snags a KTM RC 390, while the third place wins a Smart TV.
