Subscription box company Loot Crate has announced the creation of Loot Play, a monthly digital subscription focusing on indie PC games.
Launching today, Loot Play will include five “high-quality, highly curated” indie titles every month, with a price starting at $10.
Each month, Loot Play’s flagship, featured title will be revealed in advance while the four other games will remain secret. The first featured game will be Fourattic’s Crossing Souls.
The service is launching in the US only to start with, though Loot Crate’s VP product marketing and communications Erik Reynolds was keen to highlights the benefits for UK/European devs. “We are including European devs and want to tell them that we are another channel for them to think of,” he explained. “Throughout a typical sales month we will promote the heck out of the hero title. We have more than 500K+ subscribers and millions of people in our ecosystem so we know we can help these developers find new audiences.”
Loot Play is launched in partnership with Chrono.gg, a digital retailer offering a new game at a reduced price every 24h. CEO Justin Sacks commented: "The Chrono team is beyond excited to be a part of Loot Play. Our company’s products and services are built around the notion of helping great game developers get their games discovered by new fans and new influencers. Working with Loot Crate on Loot Play is a perfect extension of their subscription service expertise combined with our relationships within the indie developer community."
Reynolds added: “We want to leverage our platform to help our fans discover new indie game studios and their incredible games. In collaboration with Chrono.gg, Loot Crate aims to deliver a curated digital crate of great indie PC games near the beginning of their lifecycle and support them through marketing and distribution through this subscription."
