Streaming outfit Twitch has hired Michael Aragon as its senior VP of content.
Aragon will be reporting directly to Twitch’s CEO Emmett Shear and is going to be joining the Amazon-owned company to oversee eSports, Twitch Studios, global broadcaster partnerships and other content development initiatives.
The role is a newly created position, created especially for Aragon, who comes directly from Ellation, the parent company of streaming platform VRV, where he served as VRV’s general manager and oversaw the launch.
Before this, Aragon was VP and GM of digital video and music for Sony’s PlayStation Network and held a role in corporate development at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
In a statement, Aragon said: “As a lifelong fan of gaming and geek culture, it’s appealing to elevate this platform that’s focused on helping content creators thrive, as well as to explore new ways their ideas and aspirations can come to life. My goal is to foster the growth of content for Twitch’s core video-game audience, while nurturing the communities that have expanded the platform’s boundaries beyond gaming.”
