A new Flurry report reveals that a record-breaking 17.4m iOS and Android devices were activated worldwide on Christmas day.
Also breaking records were app downloads, which reached an estimated 328m.
The period between December 25th and December 31st was also record-breaking, with in excess of 50m iOS and Android devices being activated and an incredible 1.76bn app downloads.
The US was the main downloader accounting for 604m downloads – a 34.3 per cent share. China was next up with 183m downloads, a number that’s all the more impressive when you consider that it is a non-Christian country and does not traditionally celebrate Christmas.
The UK was third with 132m app downloads followed by Germany (57m), France (54m), Canada (54m) and Russia (42m). Many European countries would normally rank below the likes of South Korea (36m) and Japan (24m), although the Christmas gifting boom boosted their positions.
