Having previously been due out at the end of July, Warner’s HD Batman collection Return to Arkham may be far further off then expected.
Eurogamer has word from multiple sources” that the game, the shock delay of which was announced at the end of June, will not now be released until November at the earliest”.
However, a 2017 release remains a distinct possibility.
The reason for the delay, the site adds, surrounds the quality of the port from Chinese developer Virtuous Games. Of particular concern is the framerate.
This, of course, harks back to the disastrous launch of Batman: Arkham Knight on PC. That game was yanked from sale very shortly its release in June 2015 thanks to a cacophony of technical problems including poor performance and missing visual features.
A re-worked version was not then re-released until the end of October.
After reviewing the progress of the project, the team at WB Games has decided to delay the release of Batman: Return to Arkham to give the team at Virtuous Games additional time to deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience,” the publisher said at the time of Return to Arkham’s delay.
We do not have a release date yet and will be sure to communicate that once we are sure the game will be ready. We know this is disappointing news, but we feel the extra time will allow the team to create the best gaming experience for our fans.”
