FACEIT has announced that it will be hosting the 13th CS:GO Major in London.
The event will take place at London’s SSE Arena in Wembley from the 20 – 23 September, where teams will be competing for a $1m prize pool.
FACEIT has previously hosted the open qualifiers for the CS:GO Majors, although this year they’ll run the entire event, encompassing the qualifiers, minors, group stage and final event. 24 teams will appear in London, in front of 10,000 eager fans. The previous major broke a record for the most concurrent viewers of an English-language esports tournament stream, picking up 1.13 million fans tuning in to watch the final match.
“The community has been at the heart of everything we do at FACEIT, and we’re so grateful for the support of the players on our platform and those who’ve attended and watched ECS,” said Michele Attisani, chief business officer and co-founder of FACEIT, in a press statement. “We’re excited to create an amazing celebration of CS:GO to honor that commitment. We look forward to seeing everyone there in September.“
FACEIT are well known in the Counter-Strike community for their FACEIT competitive platform and the CS:GO ECS, which hands out $3m in prize money a year. They’re also well known for their grass roots commitment, running many small open competitions.
