UNILAD Esports takes final roster slot for Gfinity’s Elite Series third season

UNILAD Esports are taking the final roster slot for the third season of Gfinity’s Elite Series tournament.

Gfinity announced the new team today, which will see UNILAD Esports, an esports outfit backed by the UNILAD media company, replacing Reason Gaming. This is exciting primarily because it will see current FIFA Interactive World Cup Winner, Spencer ‘Gorilla’ Ealing, compete in the Elite Series.

The move makes Gfinity’s Elite Series a FIFA contest to watch, with Ealing upping their game as one of the best known and most skilled FIFA players in the world. His addition to the competition makes the contest something worth keeping an eye on, which is exactly what the organisation needed after the introduction of the football game as the third game in the Elite Series, replacing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

It’s a leap in stature for UNILAD too, who will now be facing off against heavyweight organisations like FNATIC, TEAM Envy and Vitality for a shot at the £250,000 prize pool when the tournament kicks off on Friday 9th March.

“The signing of UNILAD sets up the coming season of Elite Series to be our most exciting yet and promises to deliver some blockbuster entertainment. We set out to create a UK tournament that has global appeal and the major teams and players we now have competing could grace any of the major global tournaments. “, said Neville Upton, CEO of Gfinity. “We know that UNILAD’s fans watch only the best in entertainment and that’s exactly what the Elite Series is going to give them.”

“We’re really excited that UNILAD Esports is joining the roster for the upcoming Gfinity Elite Series. The Gfinity Elite Series is the perfect tournament for our global audience to engage with the best esports content and get more fans involved in the action,” said Liam Harrington, CEO of UNILAD. “We look forward to supporting our players over the competition and working with Gfinity.”

UNILAD’s agreement will also see the media company host content from the Elite Series across multiple channels during the season’s eight week run.
