SK Gaming triumphed over Virtus.Pro to be crowned victors of EPICENTER 2017 at the grand finals in St. Petersburg, Russia.
SK has been a dominant force this year, with the EPICENTER win being the team’s sixth championship win of 2017. They played with a stand-in, Ricardo ‘boltz’ Prass, but were still a solid force, shutting out Virtus.Pro in a 3-2 victory, shortly after Virtus showed their chops by taking out FaZe Clan.
It’s unfortunate news for Virtus.Pro who are still feeling the effects of a long slump in results. They’ll no doubt feel disappointed at the result, which saw them take an early lead, winning the first map 16-10 and then the second half of map two with a 7-0 shutdown of the Brazilian superteam.
However, SK then seemed to remember why they’re known as one of the best CS:GO teams in the world right now and came online, snatching the second map — Train — in Overtime. SK won the series 3-2, winning a $250,000 prize for the win.
