The December/January issue of MCV/DEVELOP is online now! Inside: The Canary Islands, Liberation, DEVELOP/JOBS, Fae Farm and more!

MCV/DEVELOP Issue #994 is arriving at homes and offices, and we’ve uploaded it to our archive so that you can read it wherever and whenever you want at absolutely zero cost. What a savings!

In this issue, Richie Shoemaker spoke to an assortment of developers from The Canary Islands about the benefits of developing games in a tropical paradise. (Surprising no one, there are many.)

Our intrepid editor also took a journey into the depths of an 1980s BBC Television-inspired version of outer space in Liberation, and after surviving his encounters with the nefarious GalFed, took the time to talk to Classyk Games about the game’s many retro influences and find out what’s next for the studio.

Richie also heard from publisher Raftur Games on how it intends to support indie game developers, and had a chat with Paul Gouge and Alex Rigby about their new mobile gaming start up ForthStar Games.

Elsewhere in the issue, Vince Pavey has prepared a pair of ‘When We Made…’ features for readers this month. He’s checked in with both Isaac Epp from Phoenix Labs on its cosy hit Fae Farm, and industry icon Ed Boon on Mortal Kombat 1, which is cosy in its own ‘blood and viscera splashing on the screen after a secret command input’ sort of way.

Vince has also pulled together the Ins and Outs directory, as well as both our pets section and the regular selection of all-star spotlight interviews with talented people from various levels of the games industry. Amiqus’ Liz Prince is also back with another Debugging D&I feature, where she’s keen to tell you all about the Empower Up platform that Amiqus has been working on with Ukie

This month also includes the much anticipated next edition of DEVELOP/JOBS, and we’ve got even more words of wisdom in The Final Boss, who this month is Snow Rui from Hooded Horse
