Two members of rock band Imagine Dragons, Daniel Platzman and Wayne Sermon have invested in ReKTGlobal and its esports organisation Rogue.
The pair are long term esports fans that wrote their 2014 track "Warriors" for the League of Legends World Championships, before performing on stage at the event in Seoul, South Korea.
"We love gaming and esports have been looking for new ways to contribute to this community for a long time—but we never found the right fit until now," Imagine Dragons manager Mac Reynolds said in a statement.
"We expect to see esports continue its rapid growth internationally, and we think Rogue and ReKTGlobal are the partners who will help make our hometown of Las Vegas the premiere team and gaming event destination."
ReKTGlobal bills itself as an esports agency and production services company, but it’s best known for its jobs board, ReKTJobs, its varsity recruitment company, ReKTUniversity, and the competitive organisation Rogue.
Rogue, owned by producer and DJ Steve Aoki, was acquired by ReKTGlobal in January 2018. Platzman and Sermon will join Aoki as co-owners of the team. The Las Vegas based esports outfit currently fields teams in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, H1Z1, Rainbow Six Siege, Rocket League, and Vainglory. Dr Lupo, a popular Fortnite streamer, streams under the Rogue banner.
In January, Rogue suggested it would be able to sign League of Legends and Overwatch teams. However, it previously dropped its successful Overwatch roster in October after the team failed to get a slot in Blizzard’s Overwatch League.
