EA’s EU corporate comms has a new boss, with industry veteran Cat Channon having recently taken on the role of Director, European Corporate Communications, based at Electronic Arts’ Geneva office.
Channon will be heading up European Corporate Communications. overseeing all areas of company-specific communications across Europe and will be the ‘go to person’ for corporate comment, interview requests or company queries at a local or regional level. Although agency teams will continue to be the point of contact for all game-specific questions or requests.
The UK industry will know Channon from her stints at Vivendi, Take-Two, NCSoft, and Warner Bros. She’s also been very involved in GamesAid over the years. Most recently she was running her own agency, The Treks, before EA tempted her back in-house for this role.
Speaking to MCV, Channon said: “Europe has always had a diverse media landscape, but the global communications scene has undergone dramatic changes over the last few years, making it an incredibly exciting time to be working in this field. Gamers are more active than ever before in voicing their opinions and engaging with communities, developers and company conversation.
“EA is a particularly player-focused and progressive organisation, so I am thrilled to be joining the company at this time. I look forward to engaging with our partners, media and trade bodies along with the highly talented internal teams over the weeks and months to come.”
And Channon will be busy, with the games industry as a whole needing to get a clear message across to the public at large, as games have recently come increasingly under the spotlight from legislators across Europe on numerous topics. If you need to get in touch then email Cat at cchannon@ea.com.
